Our Story

Our Story

Leah and I met unremarkably at team cross country camp her freshman year in the Black Hills. She was avoiding boys at the time, so she didn't give me the time of day. This frustrated me! Who was this mystery girl? When I found out she was going to my church's life group that I'd taken a hiatus from, I knew my outlet was there! I reinstated myself into the life group in hopes of getting to know a teammate, fellow believer, and quite cute young lady. As time passed, we found our lives mixing more and more through campus ministry, cross country, and general hanging out in our community. Coming off a somewhat prodigal season, and being mentored back into right relationship with Christ, I found Leah's deep faith very attractive. It proved difficult to honor her boundary of giving her freshman year to the Lord by making a vow not to meddle with any boys. The summer after her freshman year, we didn't see or talk to each other much. When team camp rolled around again, we caught up like old friends. After seeking wisdom from mentors and from the Lord, we decided to date! Our relationship did not come into being as smoothly as it sounds here, but I knew she was something special, something to be valued and cherished from the first moments I got to know her. I thank God for bringing her to Augustana, and for cross country, Flite ministry, and the Crossing for making it all possible to get to know this wonderful person!
