How We Met

Island Fever

I remember walking into Islands Fine Burgers and Drinks for my first day of training. Right when I opened the the second door and saw him I thought, "Dang, this boy is so cute!" From that moment I developed a crush and I didn't know then but, it was one I would never shake...

Tommy and I would always flirt with one another when we worked together. I have to admit on the days I know we'd be working together I'd get EXTRA ready so I would look cute for him. We hung out a few times outside of work but, he wasn't prepared to take me too seriously. After all, he was in an up and coming band and was too busy recording to make the effort =P.

Well, we worked together but, life sorta went on. I did my own thing and he did his. I actually started going to church, gave my life to Christ and became really involved with my college church group. I would still think about Tommy and would always mention to him when we talked that he should come with me to church some time. At that point in time he denied.

Finally a few months later, I received an e-mail on Facebook from Tommy. My heart pounded, what did he have to say? He told me he had started reading the bible and that he wanted to talk to me about some of the things he had been learning.

We started going on hikes at Cawles mountain and talking about God. We would also go and sit on the rocks at Wind And Sea and read the bible. We really were able to learn and grow in Christ together. It was so exciting to be able to have such deep, meaningful conversations and that beautiful intense mutual desire to know our Creator... It brought us very close to one another. These dates were frequent and went on for a good amount of time.

I knew I was supposed to be with Tommy, I sincerly believe that God revealed it to me. I even told Tommy the he would marry me some day. Tommy thought I was out of my mind because he was still flirting with the notion of even asking me to be his girlfriend. After three months of discerning God's will, Tommy knew that it was God's will and time to ask me to be his girlfriend!

I waited 3 more months after this for Tommy to tell me he loved me. I remember telling a girlfriend just days before that I would probably have to wait a year before Tommy would ever tell me he was in love with me. I, on the other hand, had been screaming it at the top of my lungs in my head since basically the first day we had a conversation (I was always crazy about him)! Three days after I spoke to my friend, Tommy and I went to Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach and were playing amongst the rocks and splashing around in the water. We stopped for a moment and he took me into his arms, looked me in my eyes and told me, "Meg, I love you." It was so romantic movie cliche but, I loved it and we loved each other =]. I couldn't believe it!!!God is good =].

In all honesty, if Tommy and I hadn't come to God we never would have come to one another. God's hand is what has driven our relationship from it's start. He has been the inspiration and reason for us to keep our relationship from becoming tarnished. Tommy asked me to marry him and I concented knowing that together we can and will glofiry His name and live out our life callings. We are so blessed to have one another and are so excited to see what else God has in store for us.
