The Proposal
Jeff and I spoke about marriage about a week before he actually proposed. I'd told him I was extremely happy with our relationship and could see us as a married couple, but was concerned about how my children would react. The next week, he made an excuse to Samantha, my oldest child, to go to his mom's house to check a plant she'd put there to keep it from dying. While there, he asked her how she felt about his proposing to me, and showed her the rings. She was surprised, but could tell how happy he made me and told him she was fine with it as long as we didn't rush. He told her, 'before the end of the year?' and she agreed. He then came back to my house, got down on one knee, opened the box with the rings inside, and asked me if I'd marry him. After looking over my shoulder at Samantha and Elisha, and seeing her nod her acceptance, I tearfully agreed. He slipped the ring on my finger, kissed me, and we laughed about how quickly we'd fallen for each other. I knew we'd have obstacles to overcome, but they are nothing compared to how happy we make each other and how much we both want to keep the other smiling forever!
